ENUGU- THE National Emergency
Management Agency, NEMA, has donated 26 assorted relief materials worth
millions of Naira to Enugu state government for onward distribution to the 2017
flood victims in the state.
Represented by the South east zonal coordinator of NEMA, Mr. Walson
Brandon, Maihaja said that the humanitarian relief assistance by the
federal government was to ameliorate the sufferings of the affected
communities.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, the Executive
Secretary, Enugu State Emergency Management Agency, ESEMA, Mrs. Nkechi
Eneh, said the unique gesture was an eloquent testimony to government’s
welfare of the citizens.
Eneh who was represented by her Special Assistant, Mr. Austin
Ajuluchukwu said the flood disaster affected over 50 communities in 9
local government areas of the state.
He pledged that the materials will get to the effected persons
immediately so the purposes for the humanitarian gesture would be met.
Ajuluchukwu said “It’s good the items are coming in in batches as they
come we distribute them to the affected persons.”
He enumerated the affected local governments to include Nkanu East, Igbo
etitit, Ezeagu, Udi, Enugu North, Uzo-Uwani, among other council areas
of the state.
